I can quit my job...
Today, at work, I thought about quitting my job.
It was a positive thought.
An uplifting thought.
When I had it, I was crouched over the electric heater in the office, shivering and trying to feel warm. During the weekend and after-hours, the building owners have the thermostat automatically reset to 65 degrees. Sadly, the heat doesn't flow uniformly through the building and some areas are warmer than others. Today, shivering and miserable, I never quite managed to feel warm.
That's when I had the thought. I can quit my job.
And I felt this enormous grin spread across my face and the weight lift off my shoulders.
I can quit my job.
I can't remember the last thing that made me smile like that.
