John Updike, R.I.P.
John Updike died today. He was 73.
The Telegraph has a really good obituary up, one that I would recommend people read.
Personally, I think I'm from the wrong generation to really appreciate Updike's writing. I did read a couple of his books, most recently his sequal to The Witches of Eastwick called The Widows of Eastwick. I tried to read one of his "Rabbit" books, but they just didn't appeal to me. Plus, the bits he wrote about geriatrics having sex were generally offputting.
