My Problem Child is Dying....
Tomorrow, I will be taking the Problem Child to the repair store. I was hoping to find another laptop, something a bit newer, but between the start of the school year, supply chain hiccups and a shortage of computer chips, I didn't have much luck. Also, I really want to keep a laptop with an optical drive, as I still watch movies on my computer.
I am, in fact, a bit of a luddite. I don't really want to give up my physical storage devices and I positively HATE the thought of downloading programs off the Internet or *shudder* saving my stuff to the fucking cloud. (Yes, that's how I always refer to it; the 'fucking cloud!)
I still buy and read PHYSICAL BOOKS, for gods sake.
Hell.
I still READ.
If that doesn't scream Luddite, what the hell does?
Anyway, I'll be getting her hard drive cloned and replaced, and when I get her back I'll be able to write again.
I cannot tell y'all how many times I've wanted to fire up my laptop and start writing something - ANYTHING - only to be thwarted by the fact that she's on her last legs. :(
At least for a while.
The fellow at the repair place said it would probably cost about $250 total. I had a friend offer to replace the hard drive, but he couldn't clone the data, so I'm paying for stuff to get done.
And it can't happen soon enough for me.
