Star Trek XI is kinda like porn...
May. 8th, 2009 11:09 pmI saw Star Trek XI this afternoon. On the Melworks Scale of Movie Love, I'd have to give it a 5 out of 10. It's a solid B movie, probably worth paying full price to see, but I have no desire to see it again. Actually, given all the lens flare crap in it, I probably have less desire to see it than for a normal movie. But I'm feeling generous and decided not to subtract an addition point for that. Otherwise, I would have totally given it a four.
That said, I think this movie performs much better as an action/adventure movie than as a Trek movie. There's a lot of action, but it doesn't have much depth. It's all flash and no substance.
It's kinda like porn. After the movie, I came home and wound up ordering porn on Pay-Per-View. I thought I might have been in a mood, but nope, after about ten minutes of listening to the 'actress' whimpering very dramatically, I got bored and wound up watching Family Guy episodes. I just wasn't engaged.
The same thing sort of happened with this Trek movie.
Go figure.
