My Meatless Week
Sep. 14th, 2021 07:18 pmSo, this past week I didn't eat any meat. I'm rather proud of that, as I thought I would have cravings and succumb, but that didn't happen. I did have some craving for chicken near the end of the week, but overall I was just fine.
I tried to go meatless for a couple of weeks last year and it didn't work out. I quit after the first week, as I felt listless, hungry and felt mentally foggy. This time, I didn't have any of that. I felt full and satified, with no mental fog. I think, this time 'round, I was getting more calories and making sure I got enough protein. Also, I think I did more dairy this time around (chocolate milk anyone?) and so may not have been suffering from a b12 deficiency.
Overall, it was a pretty decent week. I didn't eat some of the stuff I thought I'd eat, like 4-cheese pizza, PB&J sandwiches, oatmeal, waffles, etc. I did have one day where I ate nothing but trash(soda, chips, cookies) but that was the exception. Most of the time, I was eating things like rice, beans, stir fry veggies, bananas, grapes. I did eat some snacky stuff: organic yellow corn chips, oatmeal raisin cookies, pecan twirls. But, overall, food quality was pretty good.
All that said, I couldn't commit to vegetarianism full time. I certainly couldn't become a vegan. I think, however, I could do the flexetarian thing, where you only eat meat on certain days of the week. That would be interesting, and I may give it a whirl.
But today, it's my Free Day, and I've had a baconator combo from Wendy's, a bottle of wine and a box of Cheez Its.
