The other day, I went and saw Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs at the local Overpriced Cineplex. Sadly, I missed the normal viewing and had to get a ticket for the 3D version. I hate watching movies in 3D but that's neither here nor there.
Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs is the story of Flint Lockwood, a stereotypical lovable loser who also happens to be a bit of a mad scientist. Sadly, none of his inventions have managed to work out like he had hoped they would. At least, until he creates a machine that turns water into food. There's not a whole lot else I can say without giving away the plot of the movie, so I'll just jump right into my review.
Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs is a fun little romp of a movie, but, unfortunately, it is also imminently forgettable. It's got laughs for the whole family, but they're a bit few and far between. Why this movie has been given a PG rating, I'm not sure. Maybe it's the bit with the fried chickens. Who knows?
All in all, on the Melworks Scale of Movie Love, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs gets a solid 4 out of 10. It's worth seeing, although not for nonmatinee prices, and I don't think it has a high rewatch appeal. Still, if you're at the theater and there's nothing else on that you want to see, you could do worse than catching this movie.
