So, I've been in South Carolina about three days now, but it feels a lot longer. I think it's the heat, more than anything else, that's making time go all funny. It's hellaciously hot down here, with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s.
I'm not used to all this sun and heat. I've got a bad sunburn on my left arm, from hanging it out the window on the drive down, and am currently avoiding going outside if at all possible.
So far, I'm getting on fairly well with my Mom. She's been feeding me up for the last three days with pot roast and homemade cinnamon buns. Honestly, I'm starting to feel like a prize pig being prepped for slaughter.
Am slowly making the adjustment to life in a small town, but it's been interesting. The nearest decent bookstore is 33 miles away. Ditto for the nearest decent theater. I haven't even checked out the job market yet, but I imagine I'll be commuting somewhere for a little while.
Off now, to drown my sorrows in iced tea.
