DCNu

There's a lot of buzz over on the comic sites about DC Comics reboot happening this September. The reboot, dubbed DCNu by the media outlets, is scheduled to coincide with their big push into same-day digital publishing. Its also an attempt by the company to simplify the tangled history of the DC Universe and modernize and diversify their character base.
Initial assessments from the fanbase, however, appears to be highly skeptical. I must admit that I share that skepticism.
The digital download issue aside, most of the 51 comics that DC is releasing in September just hold no real allure for yours truly. I've been collecting comics since the early Eighties and most of what DC is offering in September looks as appetizing as cold leftovers.
If the company wanted to do a true reboot, they would have kept the three iconic properties (Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman), and simply reinvented everything else.
But DC, I fear, lacks the courage and the creativity to do something like that. For them, as for all businesses, this reboot is all about dollars and cents.
And that is probably why it's going to be a spectacular failure.
