Well.
Today has been . . . peculiar.
Not bad, per se, but not exactly stellar.
Transitional might be a good word.
One of my coworkers gave her two week notice today. She's been working mostly weekends, while working at a veterinary hospital the rest of the week, and, well, no one was surprised that she gave notice. Once she cut back on the hours at the shop, I think we all knew she was eventually going to leave.
She was really sad, though, to be leaving. She's been at the job almost every day of her life since she was a little thing and now she's going. Poor thing. But I think this will be good for her.
And her leaving, has prompted the owner to implement some more changes at the shop. We've been open 7 days a week for the last year. Now, he's decided we'll be closed on Monday and Tuesday, and the rest of the week we'll be open from noon to six.
This is sort of good for me, as it means I get a real weekend. Granted, it's Monday and Tuesday, but it's a real weekend. Hurrah!
They're firing the guy who comes in once a week to clean, which means we'll all have to take a turn. No big deal. I don't mind cleaning toilets or slopping a wet mop across the floor. And I can dust cabinets when I'm up front.
To be honest, I think I can do a better job than the present guy.
But the energy in the store just feels off now that Jag will be leaving. I don't know. I'm hoping to hear something from the state jobs I applied to last month, hopefully soon.
Particularly since I came home today and found an e-mail from the property manager's office, regarding the paving. It looks like the association will wind up paying $14,000 for it, which, divided among ten people will be about $140 a head. Hopefully, it will be less as I'm not sure how many people actually comprise my current association.
In other news, I got a couple of checks from Amazon for book sales. Hurrah! And I've been watching a ton more television than usual. Expect a post on that sometime in the future.
Hope everyone out there is doing well!
- xoxo MEL
