Today was my regular Free Day.
I spent it with my friend, Paul. Mainly I spent it in the parking lot of his new doctor's. He had an appointment at 3PM but they didn't get him in until 4PM and he wasn't done until nearly 5PM. I told him that the next time he went there, I would drop him off and he could call me to come and get him when he was done. I'm certainly not going to sit in a parking lot for 2 fucking hours again.
After that, I drove him to his sister's, so he could borrow some cash to get his medication. Then to Publix so he could use their pharmacy, then back to his house.
I like Paul and I don't mind helping him, but I find that if I spend a great deal of time with him I'm left psychically drained.
After I left Paul's I came home, stopping by Bojangles to grab some chicken and biscuits. The customer service was rude, they didn't give me a straw for my tea and when I got home I found out that the chicken was undercooked. I had to stick it in the oven for 30 minutes until I was sure it was safe to eat.
So I filed a report with the county health department. Idiot teenagers. Too busy stuck to their phones to do their jobs.
Anyway, finally got settled in the house, watching some YouTube when Jorg and Shadow came home. Went and played with Shadow for about a half an hour, then chatted with Jorg for a little while. He was waxing rhapsodic about his new girlfriend (I'm counting the weeks now until they implode), and let me know that this Friday he would be having a memorial gathering for a friend of his who passed away a couple of weeks ago. About 15 people maybe, mostly gathering outside around the fire, to remember their friend. That's nice, but I think I'll be cloistering myself in my bedroom so as to avoid the possibility of catching the plague and because I just didn't know the deceased and don't really feel like interacting with a bunch of mournful strangers.
Anyway, that's been my day. Hope all of y'all's has been better.
