Yesterday, I turned 52.
This is a boring number.
There are 52 white keys on a standard keyboard.
There are 52 cards in a conventional deck of playing cards.
There are 52 weeks in a year.
Ten years ago, at this time, I was roadtripping across America toward California, taking the old Route 66 in January. The weather was iffy, but overall, it was a great trip. I'd like to return to some of the places I visited that time: Big Sur, the Painted Desert, the Petrified Forest.
This year, I worked in the Store and came home and had my first bottle of wine in almost 3 months.
In retrospect, my 51st year on this Earth was all right until near the end when the kidney stone happened. I'm still dealing with shit from that as I start my 52nd year.
I'm hoping 52 will be a good year. Better than the last. Healthier. Easier. More prosperous. Fewer stresses. Fewer damn plagues. More honest politicians. Smarter leaders. Nicer people.
I suppose, as this year begins for me, I just hope things get better in general.
