The Liam Solo
Dec. 28th, 2022 02:13 amSo, the party arrived in Frostkeep, a miserable town on the southeast border of the Mistlands. Madame Yellowstar and her company were delivered safely to their destination. The party learned that her husband was the garrison commander, who was killed two weeks ago. The group was paid, but Ulda Bordis lined up a gig to escort a merchant back to Mistgate. Everybody was happy with this as none of them liked the vibe in Frostkeep. (No one smiles. The air is weirdly quiet. The place is heavily warded against the undead.)
So, the group departs Frostkeep with their new employer and things don't go as smoothly as the trip to Frostkeep. The party is attacked by dreadwoods (think evil treants and you'll have the basic idea). During the fight, one of the party is killed. They burn the body and continue.
A few days later, the party is attacked at sunset by a couple of spectres. Only Liam and another PC can affect the spectres. The fight is ugly, but the party wins in an unusual way when Liam makes Ulda Bordis intangible so that her attacks will affect the specters. She takes them both out with remarkably little trouble.
Afterwards, the group returns to the coast. They stop in Naean's Rest, and learn the town has been dealing with a ghoul nest. Security on the town gates is super tight, but no one can tell how the ghouls got past the town's wards.
Eventually, the group makes it back to Mistgate. Their employer pays them and Ulda Bordis pays the group. Everyone leaves until its just Liam and Ulda Bordis. She asks if he's still interested in working with her and he says he is. Then he returns to The Wheel & Lantern Inn, which has started to feel like home.

So, this session lasted over SEVEN HOURS. That's a crazy amount of time to solo anything.
Liam has a nice spread of NPCs to work with now, but I have to start fleshing out Ulda Bordis's life a bit more. I think I'll shift the focus to her next session.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go watch The Golden Girls to relax my aching brain.
