So, I was on a forum I routinely lurk at, earlier tonight, and someone posted a thread on casting hypothetical X-Men films. Which sort of got me thinking about a hypothetical X-film.
Boom! X-Men: Reunion.
This film revolves around the original students at Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. The Fab Five: Scott, Jean, Bobby, Warren and Hank. It's been twenty years since they graduated and at least ten years since their last X-mission.
Now, after ten years, the group is getting back together. There's been a surge of new mutants lately and Xavier feels that the world needs the X-Men again. But he can't do it alone, so he's asked his old students to come back and help him.
Only, Xavier isn't the only one to notice this upswing in mutant activity. The enigmatic Mystique has also noticed and is determined to be the guiding hand of the next generation of mutants. To do this, she has to eliminate Xavier and his protegees.
Infiltrating the X-Mansion, she uses her shapeshifting ability to sow dischord among the X-Men. Taking advantage of the confusion, she's about to kill Xavier when he's saved by an unexpected figure: Magneto.
Magneto's appearance galvanizes the X-Men to act together again. In the ensuing battle, the X-Mansion is leveled, Magneto is defeated and Mystique vanishes. Scene fades on the X-Men wondering what to do next? Fade in, six months later, a young mutant is rescued from a group of masked attackers (Hellfire Club goons?) by the X-Men.
Fade Out. Roll credits.
As far as casting?
Angel (Warren Worthington III) - Lee Pace
Beast (Henry McCoy) - Giovanni Capitello
Cyclops (Scott Summers) - Ashton Kucher
Iceman (Bobby Drake) - Jason James Richter
Marvel Girl (Jean Grey) - Felicia Day
Professor Charles Xavier - Raymond Teller (of Penn & Teller fame)
Magneto (Erik LNU) - Anthony Andrews
Mystique - Rachel Nichols
