Leonard Nimoy passed away today. He was 83 years old.
I heard about his death at work, from a coworker. At first, I didn't want to believe it, thinking it was just another stupid Internet hoax. Then, I went online and confirmed that it had really happened.
Mister Spock was gone and this time, there would be no Genesis planet to bring him back.
I died a little.
Social media has exploded with sympathy and tribues to Mr. Nimoy.
I think, largely, because we could all sympathize with Spock. He was the ultimate outsider, a sane person living in a world of overemotional idiots, who still managed to make good.
Nimoy's Spock was iconic and inspirational.
Now, Mr. Nimoy is gone and the world seems a little shabbier, a little grayer.
I just hope that, wherever Mr. Nimoy is tonight, that he is aware of the warm thoughts and loving affection he was held in by so many people.
