"Living in a bad soap opera."

Came into work today and found that Coworker Y wasn't here. Heard that she got called into the boss's office on Friday and left in a grim mood. I'm wondering if she'll be in tomorrow, or if she's been told to stay home for a few days until she gets her life straightened out. Ah, did I forget to mention that she was in another car accident? That's the fifth one since she moved to Alaska. During the last one, she got a $100 ticket for not having insurance and the vehicle got impounded.
Found out Coworker Ali is only going to be relieving me one night a week from now on. They're starting to shift her more and more to days, where she can interact with the people she's working for. What that means is that I'm going to be stuck with a different person, once a week, relieving me of duty. I've already had two people suggest I work double shifts on Wednesday/Thursday, but don't think that's going to happen.
I just wish they could find somebody willing to work Ali's shift. You'd think in this economy people would be lined up, looking for work. Eh.
And last, but not least, my boss, Supervisor Vicki, told me she was diagnosed with breast cancer. They think they've caught it early, but she doesn't really know anything concrete yet. She was going around and letting her people know, so the info wouldn't get around second-hand. I think she's being very brave, putting on a good face and all, but I can tell that underneath she's freaking the hell out. Hopefully things won't go pear-shaped.
Sometimes, I swear, I feel like I'm living in a really bad soap opera.
