Happy March!
Today, I dropped off my tax stuff with an honest-to-God accountant. Why? You ask? Because this past year I rented out a room in my townhouse for six months and wanted to maximize my deductions. Did you know you can take this thing called 'depreciation' if you rent out part of your house? I did not know that. Granted, it doesn't come to a lot of money, but it's the little nickle and dime stuff like that, that inspired me to find an accountant.
I must admit, though, to being somewhat disappointed that they didn't file my stuff right then and there.
I'm hoping that I get all my state and tax back, minus the penalty for Obummercare I'll have to pay, but that's a totally different rant.
I continue to poke at writing. The sequel to the book is now two years late and, well, at this point I think I might just have to admit that it's not going to happen. Or, at least, not in the form that I had originally wanted.
In other news, I am watching a bit of television this month.
Caught the first two eps of Last Man on Earth the other night and, while intriguing, I didn't really think it was entertaining. I doubt I'll be back for episode three.
Once Upon a Time... returned in all of its camp glory this past Sunday. The whole 'Queens of Darkness' story arc looks to be interesting, and I'm dying to see how they work Cruella-fucking-DeVill into the mythos. Not impressed by the actresses playing Ursula or Maleficent, and I'm ready to bribe the writers to fucking kill Rumplestiltskin already.
Catching random episodes of Sleepy Hollow, The Blacklist and Gotham. I'm spending more time watching old BBC sitcoms on YouTube and listening to audiodrama on the BBC Radio iPlayer.
Reading. *sigh* I used to read, didn't I? Once upon a time? I did read a Tolkein-riff called There and Back Again the other week, and I started Chuck Wendig's Cormorant but I'm not in the right headspace to really enjoy Miriam Black.
Comic wise? I'm enjoying a few titles but planning on dropping a slew of them this summer as Convergence and Secret Wars reboot DC and Marvel.
And that's pretty much it for me.
