Jan. 8th, 2017 03:15 amTomorrow afternoon I am taking my friend, Paul, to the funeral of his brother. I know where the funeral is and I've been brushing up on funeral etiquette for his particular faith.
It's going to be weird.
I didn't know Paul's brother. I'll just be playing driver. I'll probably be introduced to some family members and I will immediately forget their names.
Paul said I could drop him off if I wanted to, but I'm going to stay. I think there's a good possibility he'll need to make an escape.
As I understand it, he and his brother weren't particularly close. But a death in the family is still a death in the family. And estrangement doesn't mean Paul won't feel something unexpected.
Best to be ready to bug out if anything happens.
I'm glad I'll be able to help my friend, but this is so not how I wanted to spend this Sunday.
