May. 31st, 2018 09:04 pmToday has not been a great day. I went into work 'cause the boss needed someone to cover the store while he went to Hilton Head for his oldest kid's high school graduation. Okay. No problem.
I get to work and the boss leaves. As soon as he's out the door, the phone rings. It's UPS. They say we owe them $1000 for two boxes we picked up yesterday. So they either need the money or the boxes returned.
I tell them I don't know what's going on but I'll ask the boss to give them a call.
I do that.
The boss is super-relaxed. "I'm not worried about it."
Um. Okay.
I still give him the name and contact number.
UPS calls again. And again. Two different people. Then our UPS guy stops by the store to pick up the check.
I'm told, again, that we can pay or return the packages.
I tell them again I don't know what's going on, but I spoke with the boss and he'll be back in town tomorrow.
At which point the UPS lady says that if they have to charge the shipper for the $1000 it'll cause all sorts of problems for us, and then their Internal Loss Prevention people will have to get involved and that'll probably involve the police, etc. etc. etc.
Again, I tell them, I don't know anything about this. The boss is out of town. He'll be back tomorrow.
So, yeah, it was NOT a great day.
I still don't know what the hell's going on with UPS. Why would they release packages to somebody if they weren't paid for???
My bigger worry is that UPS will charge Diamond for the packages. Diamond, in turn, will put us on their blacklist and it'll be goodbye new comics and stuff.
Honestly, I hope the boss addresses this tomorrow.
