Free Days on the Road
Jul. 22nd, 2021 10:12 pmSo, this past Tuesday I decided to take a road trip. After making my weekly YouTube video, I hopped in my car and drove east, toward the coast. The weather was less than stellar, being gray and overcast, but it wasn't bad travel weather.
I arrived in Myrtle Beach about 5ish, but decided I didn't want to stay in Myrtle Beach. It feels like its trying too much to be like Las Vegas, and it's not succeeding. So I drove down US 17 to Pawleys Island and spent the night in a very nice hotel.
The next morning, I went to Brookgreen Gardens. If you are ever visiting the coastal region of South Carolina, I really recommend that you check out Brookgreen Gardens. Its a lovely park filled with statues and winding little paths with lots of benches and tucked away galleries that you can rest in. I wandered about for four hours and still didn't see everything.
I was going to continue heading south on US 17, thinking of stopping in Beaufort, but the traffic on US 17 was horrendous and I didn't have to put up with it, so I turned on 521 and wound up traveling through historic Manning. I hit I-95 around 5ish and was feeling tired and drained, so I found a hotel and checked in for the night.
Woke up this morning feeling a bit under the weather. A tickle in my throat and stuffed sinuses. Probably because I turned the AC down in the hotel room to about 68 and the air was blowing, indirectly, upon my face all night.
I headed home, stopping off by my Mom's place to visit for a little while, and then came on home.
I had some food, took some cold medicine and had a lovely nap. Woke up around 730ish, had some supper and have been watching YouTube videos ever since.
I haven't been on any kind of dietary restriction the last three days, because what's the point of taking a vacation if you're just going to stress yourself out? Right? Right.
I'll pick up the diet thing tomorrow, which is also the start of my work weekend.
Yay?
Anyway, it was nice to get out of town for a while.
