Jan. 14th, 2024 11:33 pmThis weekend was very busy at The Store, and very profitable. There was a mini-show in town that we attended, which did not draw as much attention to us as I thought it would. Still, we did very well.
One of the odder moments of this weekend was a group of customers who were on vacation from Anchorage, AK. I lived in Anchorage for years, so we had a nice little chat about what was still there (Boscos, my old comic shop, is still around, as is Title Wave, one of the best used book stores that I have EVER been in). They spent a fair amount of money, including buying some first edition Frank Herbet Dune books that I had in the collectible book case.
Jorg and JT were supposed to spend Saturday night at the house, but they decided to spend it at Jorg's new place instead. It would have been nice if they had let me know. Inconsiderate. I was sort of looking forward to having a boys' night with some guys.
John B., a mutual acquaintance of Paul, came into the store this weekend. I wondered if he would bring up Paul, but he did not, and neither did I. He just bought some trade paperbacks, chatted for a minute or so at the counter, and then left. Thank goodness.
Also, on Saturday, I got a birthday present from a friend. John K brought me one of the posters from his father's collection. It's a limited print, numbered poster, of a lovely dark haired woman in a flowing white gown standing in a forest pool. There was also a card. I was very touched, as I never expect anyone to do anything for me, so it's always nice when someone does. :)
Tonight, I have been upstairs watching spy movies. 'Red' which is one of my favorites, and 'Anna' which was good, but basically a clone of 'La Femme Nikita.' I fast forwarded through the second movie and sort of wish I'd watched 'Kingsman.' I love me some Taron Egerton. :)
While watching the movie, Hunter came up onto the couch and snoozed at my feet. It was very cozy and I felt bad when I had to get up to go pee. Ah well. He can cuddle with Artemis in the chair.
And now, I think I might be off to bed. Maybe.
