Is there such a thing as too much Oz?

I think I've been reading too many Oz books. Over the weekend, I started a new story. It's sort of all-ages, which is a complete shock to me. But then, when I sat down and gave it some thought, it's been ages since I wrote anything really dark.
Does that mean I'm getting old?
