Thanksgiving came and went, accompanied, not by turkey, but macaroni pie and egg noodle soup. Black Friday descended upon the nation, accompanied by gunshots and pepperspray. Happily, I opted out and stayed home, where Mom pulled out about a metric ton of Christmas crap and started slinging it up all over the house.
This is a weird experience for me. I'm not big on Christmas, not any more. I haven't decorated in YEARS. But here's my Mom, pulling out wreathes and illuminated lamp-posts, plotting to deck the house with boughs of green cedar and red bows.
I am truly a stranger in a strange land.
