So, my living situation is giving me grief.
For the last 9 months I've been renting a room from a very nice family. About a month or so ago, they told me they planned to return to Chicago for various reasons. They were going to list the house for sale, but didn't expect any serious buyers, not in this market. Also, they weren't planning on kicking anyone out and would I be interested in staying on as their on-site representative?
I said, "Okay."
And then nothing was said for several weeks. There were issues with a bank handling the purchase of the house in Chicago that threw a wrench into things. They switched banks and, finally, things were on the go again.
Good for them.
Tonight, the other renter brought his girlfriend over and, basically, the two of them want to rent the whole house. She wants to move here from Texas and the Other Renter doesn't plan on leaving the state. So they were talking about renting the whole place.
No mention was made of me and the only reason I knew they were over was because I walked downstairs and right into the middle of the conversation. I planted myself on the couch and listened in because its my domestic situation as much as anyones and I have a right to know about what's going on.
After Other Renter and his girlfriend had vanished upstairs for the evening, Landlord said he didn't think they would rent the house. Landlady just gave me this helpless look, like, "What are we going to do?"
All I can say is that if the Other Renter and his Girlfriend do rent the house, I will not be staying. She has 5 kids. Five. And one of them has some kind of disability.
I would not be comfortable living here in that situation.
So, I might have to move.
