I think I'm a bit of a dullard.
I just got off chat with HP. My laptop a.k.a. The Problem Child, is still under warranty. They're going to replace the fan and send a tech out to my house to fix it in a few days.
I only have to pay $50 for the tech.
I should have checked all of this before I went to the repair shop. I'll have to go by there tomorrow. I know they ordered a replacement fan already so I'll pay for that.
Also, I cancelled the painter I had lined up to paint my interiors. He kept pushing me back and charged too much. I know a guy who can do the job for considerably less.
