Christmas Eve

Christmas is upon us again and, once again, I don't really have much Christmas spirit. It's just a sort of non-day to me. Tomorrow, I'll be going to my mom's for lunch, but that's about it. Then it's back home to watch this year's Doctor Who Christmas Special. And that'll be it.
I'll wake up on Tuesday and there won't be Christmas music on the radio. All the kids will have played themselves out on Monday. The week will stretch ahead of us like a long, stretchy thing. And I will be glad to see the end of December and 2017.
January will roll around and, about midway through the month, I'll start to feel somewhat festive. I'll be singing Christmas carrols, while everybody else is worried about being too fat or too tired or too old.
But right now? I've got zero Christmas spirit.

I can relate. It seemed like no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't get into the Christmas spirit this year. I had some fun watching Christmas movies and specials, drinking eggnog and hot cocoa, but beyond that, it just didn't feel like Christmas. Anyway, here's hoping that we both feel a little less gloomy in January 2018. :)

I got the impression that many people felt a certain ennui re Christmas this year. I know I certainly did. And now that the holidays are officially over, I'm looking forward to 2018. Around mid-January, I'll start to feel a bit 'Christmassy.' It's just one of life's little oddities, I suppose. :)
