So, today was the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, and the formal start of the summer season. Hurrah.

Of course, after today, we start to lose light. First in seconds, but soon it will be dark at a reasonable time of the day again. Personally, I'm more of an autumn/winter person anyway.

The weird thing is that I was convinced that summer didn't start until NEXT Friday, the 25th. I don't know why I thought that. When I lived in Alaska, I always knew when the Summer Solstice was because it was a big event. If you live anywhere where, in the winter, you only get four hours of sunlight in the deepest bits of winter, you tend to keep better track of seasonal shifts. This year, however, it just seemed to fly right out of my head.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter as it was wet and windy and miserable here today on account of Tropical Storm Whatshername blowing up from the Gulf. I'm just glad my bedroom closet didn't start leaking again. I was concerned.

I didn't get home until just recently as, after work, I hung out with friends and played card games and board games until about ten. Then I begged off and came home.

Hope all of you had a nice solstice. And if you missed it? Well, there's always the 25th as a makeup day. :)
