Apparently the gas company is not providing pilot light service because of the plague. Jorg called someone else who will be coming out tomorrow.
So, I said bugger it and have lit a fire in the fireplace. Had to empty out some of the ashes first, as they've been allowed to accumulate for AGES. And it took forever to get it going, because my tinder was damp and so was the actual wood. But it's burning now, and even if it's not the biggest fire, it still makes the room feel warmer.
I noticed that the poison I mixed up last week is missing from the kitchen. I suspect our new mouse friend has taken the bate. With any luck, the little bastard will be dead by tomorrow if he eats it all.
The first day of this Clear Liquid Diet has gone very well so far. The little discomforts in my stomach seem to have abided. I shall continue it tomorrow, until 6PM, at which point I will start to partake of simple, easily digested foods such as white rice and boiled eggs.
And the low-sodium/low-oxolate diet is going okay so far. Considering all I've been consuming so far is clear liquids, how could it not?
