Tonight our washing machine sprung a leak somewhere and my bathroom got flooded.
It could have been much worse.
Jorg mopped up most of the water, while I tossed my soaked bath mats outside to air dry and then emptied out the washing machine using a plastic food container and then a plastic cup. I popped the fan in the bathroom to air dry the floor, which worked like a treat.
Afterwards, I realized that the water had seeped beneath the wall and gotten into my closet a little bit. I keep some RPG books on the floor in there, and the ones on the bottom were a little damp, but not wet all the way through or anything.
Still, I'm not paranoid about having anything on the floor that could be wrecked by floods.
Water seems to be a bit of an enemy for us these days.
Before the Flood, Jorg discovered that the front door threshold was rotting and when he started to repair it, he discovered that the rot went deeper than he'd realized. We were just getting termites when he discovered them and killed the lot.
So, we've had two water-based difficulties so far and I can't help but wonder if we're going to have a third?
I hope not.
He says he'll take the washing machine to the repair place next week some time, but until it gets fixed/replaced, we'll be doing laundry at the laundromat.
