A little over a week has passed since Liam arrived in Wildbrook. He has spent that time talking to various members of the dwarven community, trying to get a line on Brietta and her hunting party, with no luck. He's also spent some resources properly equipping himself with clothes and some weapons.
On his 9th day in Wildbrook, while returning to his lodgings, Liam was attacked by a pox-scarred elf cut-throat. It turned out this was not a random mugging but an assassination attempt. The cut-throat fled and Liam was unable to catch him.
Returning to his lodgings, he found Constable Solana waiting for him. She has been sent to fetch him by Granny Southmoore. Liam's actions, on the part of Nerisa, have made him a target by the rival witch she was discrediting. Now Granny Southmoore, the leader of the Sisterhood in Wildbrook, has decided to get involved.
Liam reluctantly accompanies Solana to Granny Southmoore's house, where he meets the old woman, who seems genuinely sad that he's been drawn into local politics. Granny has also summoned Nerisa and her rival, Mother Fogmoon. Accompanying Mother Fogmoon is her 'champion', an elf dandy known simply as Goldgrave.
During the conversation between Granny, Nerisa and Mother Fogmoon, we learn that the two younger witches are bitter rivals and that Nerisa was exiled to Green Fan Island for her past actions. Granny also manuevers Liam into being forced to act as Nerisa's champion, offering him gold and transport to Mistgate if he'll accept the job. Liam does.
The group retreats to Granny's inner sanctum, where three other witches ae waiting, to witness Granny's judgement. The old woman reveals she's not as feeble as she seems, as she calls both Nerisa and Mother Fogmoon on their stupid rivalry, Mother Fogmoon's incompetance and Nerisa's selfishness. She has decided that the rivaly will end. Liam and Goldgrave will fight each other to the death, while magically linked to their sponsor, so that whatever befalls the champion happens to their sponsor.
The fight between Goldgrave and Liam seems fairly well balanced, but Liam gets in a lucky shot and manages to finish off Goldgrave with a second swordthrust. As Goldgrave dies, so too, does Mother Fogmoon.
Granny Southmoore apologizes to Liam once more, assuring him of her aid in getting to Mistgate and promising him that if any of Mother Fogmoon's followers attempt to avenge her death, that they'll have to deal with Granny. Nerisa thanks Liam and then follows Granny out of the room, hoping to sweet talk the old lady into releasing her from her exile early.
Liam accepts his inconvenience money and leaves, intent on finding Brietta and then getting to Mistgate.

Funny point in this session was Nerisa admitting that she did not remember Liam's name, even though they've had at least two social interactions of moderate length.
I had quite a lot of fun with the witches but couldn't think of a proper name for their organization other than the very generic Sisterhood.
Tempted to shift focus next session back to Lionscliff and find out a bit more about Liam's family and how they're handling his departure.
