So, it's the morning after the previous session ended. Liam wakes to the sound of trumpets. He stumbles downstairs and learns that today is Coronation Day, a public holiday where Mistgate celebrates the coronation of their queen some 51 years ago.
According to Liam's landlord at The Wheel & Lantern, on Coronation Day most businesses are shut down. People gather outside the palace to watch the Queen's Parade. Local superstition is that if you see the Queen on Coronation Day you'll have good luck the rest of the year. Also, after sunset, the whole city celebrates.
So, Liam goes to the Palace and watches the Queen's Parade. The queen is an elf named Gwenethyr with blood-red hair and milk-white skin. She rides in a glass carriage pulled by eight white horses. Liam thinks that she looks uncomfortable and unhappy.
After the parade, Liam returns to The Wheel & Lantern and finds Ulda Bordis waiting for him. She invites him to come out that evening so they can get a bite to eat, have some drinks and talk business. Liam agrees.

So, looking for some inspiation to start this session, I rolled on the Framing Events table in the DM's Guide and got 'Coronation.' I think if there was going to be a new queen, people would have been talking about it before, so I decided it was a public holiday, something the locals take for granted but outsiders might not be really aware of.
The parade was interesting, in hindsight. The nobles follow the Queen, then Merchants, then Priests. I think that says something about the heirarchy in Mistgate. Lord Kennok was not marching with the nobles.
Not sure what's going to happen later that evening, but it'll be interesting to find out.
