So, Coronation Day ended and the weather went sour. Ulda Bordis met Liam at his inn and they braved the streets to go to a nearby tavern, The Singing Beatle. Tavern, however, might be too modest a term for a two-story brick building with a second-story landing that overlooks a huge common room. The place was jam-packed with celebrants. A band was playing on an elevated stage while acrobats performed overhead and jugglers worked the second floor.
Liam and Ulda Bordis took a booth on the second floor. They ordered food (Beer and Crow Pie), then had a conversation about work. Ulda Bordis gave Liam the details on an escort job into the Mistlands and asked him some pointed questions. Liam admitted that he was in Mistgate because his family was probably trying to kill him. Ulda Bordis didn't pry for details aside from if his troubles were going to fuck up her work. He said they probably wouldn't.
The dwarf woman asked him a couple more questions, then offered him the job. Afterward, she went downstairs to dance and Liam went back to his inn, where he had a nice conversation with the night manageress, Sigmara. Then he went to bed.
* * * * *
So, Ulda Bordis is starting to get fleshed out in my head.
We learned that Liam isn't interested in either Women or Men.
We learned that the Queen is a widower, that her marriage was a love-match and that she has a daughter. We also learned that people claim the weather on Coronation Day will predict the next year.
Also, the Winter Solstice is also known as Bell Night, a time when the Bell-Ringer (The local death-god) makes his rounds, rousing the spirits of the dead and leading them into the next world.
So, yeah. Bells are associated with DEATH in this world, while trumpets/horns are associated with celebrations and announcements.
Also, we have a new location to look forward to: Frostkeep.
