A friend asked if I was going to go to any Pride events this year?
I told them that I didn't go to Pride.
Naturally, they asked, "Why not?"
And my response was, "It's just not me."
Which seemed to confound them.
But it's true.
I think Pride is a tacky, oversexualized series of events that have been commandeered by the radical left. The folks who attend Pride seem to fall into various cliques (Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, etc) that shit-talk the other cliques. It's like a terrible version of 'Mean Girls' covered in glittery rainbow vomit, and I do not feel like I belong there, at all.
This year, I think it's going to be worse, with all the issues surrounding trans healthcare and youth. I think the events will put on a nice face to the public and the media, but behind the scenes, out of view, the knives are going to be out and drawing blood.
I have no desire to attend such a toxic event.
Also, in general, I don't go to things like parades or carnivals or street fairs because I'm just more of an introvert and being around all those people is just fucking draining.
But if I wasn't an introvert, I still wouldn't go to Pride.
