THE START OF SOMETHING NEW? - PART TWO
"And this was Karl's idea?" Lee Danvers asked, skeptically.
Across the table, Dion Prince nodded. "Yes. Shocking, right?"
Lee grinned softly. "He has his moments."
"I think the idea has merit," said Dion. "But wanted to discuss it with you."
Lee leaned back in his chair. "I assume you want my honest opinion."
"Of course."
"All right. Then, honestly, I don't really see the need for a team. We've gotten along just fine without one so far."
"So far," said Dion. He paused to sip his wine. "But what about the next time Apokalips invades? Or Eris shows up? You may be fine winning by the skin of your teeth, but I'm not."
Lee frowned. "Then follow through with this team idea on your own."
"I may do that," said Dion. "But, frankly, the group would have a better chance of success with you on board."
Lee laughed. "Are you trying to butter me up, D?"
Prince snorted. "Hardly. I'm thinking in terms of power. You're one of the strongest metas on the planet, Lee."
"But I'm not much of a joiner," said Lee. He shook his head. "Sorry, Dion. I'm just not interested."
Dion shrugged and raised his wine glass. "Ah well. I had to try."
