Yesterday was a busy day.
I finally got up and did the group interview thing at Barnes & Noble. It was an interesting experience as this was the first group interview I've ever done. Besides myself there was a young woman named Kim, a lady named Alceone studying business management at UAA, a young guy with Beiber hair and a black guy.
The manager asked us a bunch of questions and I think I did pretty well with the responses I gave. Plus, I was the first one there and we chatted for a little while so I think I made an impression.
Without knowing anything about their backgrounds, I think the young woman, Kim, will probably be offered a job. The lady, Alceone, was very articulate and I'm tempted to use the word erudite, but she was a little too ivory tower, if you get my meaning. The Beiber-haired guy seemed enthusiastic, but he was twitchy. And the black guy was too quiet, so I'm not sure he wanted to be there at all or if he was even interested. He was hard to get a read on.
Hopefully, I'll hear something about the job by next week.
After the interview, I stopped at a FedEx Office place and faxed in a follow up form to the research firm I applied to last week. They sent me an e-mail asking for additional info so they could run backgrounds before scheduling interviews. I made bloody sure to check them out before sending them any info and they're a legit business.
That's the one thing I really hate about applying for jobs online. You can never tell if the posting is a scam, trying to phish personal info or something.
I've changed the status of my application at CareerBuilder too. I was getting spammed with job offers from people I have no interest in working for. So, it's still online, but not viewable. No love with the temp agencies either.
Ah well.
Life goes on.
Something will turn up eventually.
More later. - MEL
