Getting political
Jan. 12th, 2015 07:56 pmI wrote to my senator today asking when the Republicans were going to start taking the Affordable Care Act apart.
I got an autoresponse.
Wow. What a surprise.
I'm not opposed to everything in the AFA. I think its great that it prevents insurance companies from discriminating against people with pre-existing conditions. However, I have issues with the penalties.
I don't have insurance. If I could afford it on my own I would probably buy it. But I refuse to take a government subsidy because I equate that with a handout.
I don't want a handout from the government.
I don't need a handout from the government.
I don't think I should be penalized with a fine for not needing welfare.
If the government wants to offer free healthcare to people, they should just offer free healtchare. Have patients fill out a form at the doctor's that the doctor can submit to the federal/state government for tax breaks for every person they provide treatment to.
But, of course, that won't happen.
Because it smacks of 'socialism.'
The world is full of assholes.
