The Liam Solo
Nov. 18th, 2022 11:05 pmStarted a new solo game earlier this week.
Liam Merrick was traveling aboard the S.S. Boar when a storm sunk the ship. Liam survived and washed up on an island beach. He was discovered and aided by a tribe of mute elves and humans who took him back to their village. There he met Daillan Thorn, a servant of the Peacemaker, who answered some of Liam's questions and told him he knew a way off of the island.
After a day or so, Liam is pronounced fit enough to move about, and Daillan Thorn informs him that there is a witch on the other side of the island who can owes him a favor and can probably help Liam leave. The two leave the village the next day, heading for the with, Nerisa's, home. At sunset, they rest beneath a tree and Liam learns that the local tribe, the Green Fan, are mute because they magically offer up their voices to the goddess called the Siren.
A little later on, the pair are interrupted when a young albino girl name Clordis stumbles into their camp. She's a servant of Nerisa sent to escort them to her mistress. A little unnerved by this, Liam and Daillan decide they'll resume their journey in the morning. Clordis shrugs and returns to her mistress. As soon as she's gone a storm sweep in and Liam and Daillan spend a miserable night, huddeling in the tree.
The next day, the pair arrive on the far side of the island, and discover the wreckage of a ship washed up on shore. Among the wreckage are several bodies. Liam recognizes one as a 'problem solver' for his father, no doubt sent to find him and bring him home. He confesses to Daillan Thorn that his family are slave-traders, but that he didn't want to have anything to do with the business, so he ran away.
At this point, the pair is interrupted by the witch, Nerisa, and her man-servant, Yuleon. She orders Yuleon to salvage the wreckage and then burn the bodies, while she talks with Daillan and Liam.
Returning with Nerisa to her cave home, the witch asks what they want and why should she help them. Daillan tries to call in his favor, which Nerisa dismisses. Liam offers to pay her if she can send him to Mistgate. Initially dismissive when Nerisa leans that Liam is a mage, she agrees to send him away from the island, if he'll deliver a package for her. Daillan Thorn starts to question Nerisa's motives, but the witch dismisses him, leaving Liam alone to haggle with Nerisa.
She won't send him to Mistgate, but she will send him to Wildbrook at the World's Edge, where he will repay her by delivering a package to the local law. The package contains incriminating evidence against one of Nerisa's rivals. Liam agrees and he and Nerisa seal their deal with her giving him a promise ring that will curse him with a deadly disease called the Rot if he breaks their agreement.
Nerisa spend the next couple of hours preparing a transport ritual, that sends Liam whirling through the air to World's Edge. There, he is met by an ally of Nerisa's, a dwarf hunter named Kato. Kato and Liam take shelter in an abandoned mill, to whether a snowstorm, and plan to head to Wildbrook the next day, where Liam can fulfill his promise and get on with his life.
