This has been a wierd ass week so far.
We started a new schedule at the shop, which means that I've got a real weekend now. Two days off. Back to back. I didn't know what to do with myself, so I decided to take a lil road trip to NC and do some gambling at Harrahs.
And I won.
In the first hour I was $300 up. I should have stopped while I was ahead, but I didn't.
I wound up losing about $400 and then, thank God, winning about $300 back again. So I left with more money than I came in with, which was nice.
Sadly, when I left the casino, I discovered one of my front headlights had burned out. I wound up driving 200+ miles through the dark and foggy night, praying a cop wouldn't stop me and give me a ticket.
So, the week started off okay.
Then, on the first day back at work, a coworker of mine was fired. I don't know why, but I suspect it was because she was giving herself discounts to stuff that were above and beyond. She's the second person we've lost this month, the other girl having given her two weeks notice and banged off to work in an animal hospital.
So, we're down to four people in the Shop now. Me, the Manage, the Owner and Turtle Girl. Who is called Turtle Girl because she loved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Now, this week, the Owner has started moving shit around. We're expanding our back issues, closing off the Dollar Room and moving merchandise from their to the main floor and lots of other stuff. Hopefully, everything will be in place before our Black Friday sale, which I now have to work because of the schedule change. Also, I have to work on the day after Halloween. Which sort of sucks.
So, work progresses. Life progresses. Writing, alas, does not.
On the bright side, though, I've got my Halloween costume all done.
Hurrah for me!
More later! - MEL
