Tonight, Y and his 16-year-old kid, L, got into it. It started off as a friendly wrestling match on the couch, but then it just went weird. It ended with Y storming out of the room, smashing a jar of salsa on the way, and L vanishing into the bedroom.
I know dick-all about father/son relationships, so I don't know if this is normal. Or normal for them. Or what. According to Y, it's not.
I didn't know what to do, so I went outside and chilled in the yard with the dog. Eventually, Y came out and sat down next to me, had a couple of beers, smoked a little weed and we started to talk. We danced around the issue for a while and wound up talking about it obliquely, but didn't really dig into anything.
I don't know.
Family drama.
It's not even my family. I just live here. But I feel like I'm stuck in the crossfire.
Eh. Kid goes home in a day or so. We should be able to make it until then.
