I got woken up this morning by my Mom.
My Mom never calls me in the morning, so I'm thinking something must be wrong. My first thought was that something had happened to someone in the family.
But, no, everyone in the family is fine.
Mom called because my dad came around the other day. He just popped into her house like he owned the place(!!!) asking about me and my sister.
My sister has pretty much told my mom that she doesn't want anything to do with him, but Mom called me to see how I felt about that.
Well, I haven't spoken with the man in 31 fucking years. How do you imagine I feel? He has never made any effort to reach out to me. Not a phone call. Not a letter. Nothing.
I told Mom that I wouldn't piss down the old man's throat if his heart was on fire.
So.
That's how my day started.
And I'm sitting here, typing this, wondering what's brought on this sudden desire for reconnection on the old man's part? Is he sick? Has he suddenly realized that he's all alone with no one around him who gives a fuck? And now he's thinking his bio-family will be his fallback?
Well, if that's the case, he's sadly mistaken.
