Today, I got up early because a customer paid for comics yesterday and their friend was coming by the Store to pick them up this afternoon. Said friend texted me this morning giving me an ETA.
I went into the Store and did some stuff. Mainly making bags & boards for this week's new comics. I was contemplating vacuuming the place but I can't find the damn vacuum.
So, while sitting around, waiting on this person, and watching YouTube videos I look up. Across the street from us is a gas station. Now, they usually have homeless people congregating behind the station, but there was a lot there today and they were approaching people at the pumps probably asking for cash. I guess the owner, or someone else, called the police because about 4 cars from the sheriff's department showed up and ran the beggars off. Of course, now they're trying to come back, the idiots, not realizing that the cops will be sweeping the area on their normal patrols.
If I sound like I don't have a lot of sympathy for the homeless, well, I guess I don't. I've dealt with them in various places I've lived and worked, and the chronic homeless have no interest in improving their situation. The transitory homeless at least try to better themselves, but even they'll reach a point where they'll try to take advantage of your good nature.
I just get sick of the useless fuckers coming up and asking for money. Or to use the phone. Or the bathroom in the Store. Or thinking they'll beg from the customers before or after they leave the Store.
I just want them to go away.
