I went to the doctor's this past Thursday to talk about some stomach discomfort I've been having. I was a bit concerned that it might be a hernia(s) but they pretty much said that it wasn't that. Instead, they floated the idea that it could be Irritable Bowel Synrdome. They drew blood for some tests, and told me to avoid all carbonated beverages (including sparkling water) and suggested I try a probiotic.
So, three days later, following this initial advice, I do feel quite a bit better. I've been eating more neutral-type foods and avoiding all carbonated beverages. I still get the occasional twinge here and there, but nothing like what I have been dealing with.
Tonight, I decided to see if I could add a touch of flavored sparkling water to my ordinary water, for taste purposes, and I regret it. I've been adding some fruit juice which works okay, I would just like a bit more variety.
I'm waiting to hear about my blood test results and see where this goes. If the discomfort reappears/continues, I might get a CT scan/ultrasound, but the cost of that would be prohibitive since I'm paying completely out of pocket. (Insurance was nice, but I haven't had any in over 10 years.) Also, my blood pressure was ridiculously high, even for me, so I'm actively working to get that back under control.
Also, if I do have IBS, my Kidney Stone Diet may have been contributing to it.
Sometimes, I feel like whatever I do, I'm screwed.
