The author, J.G. Ballard, died yesterday.
It's been ages since I read any of Ballard's stuff. The one story that springs to mind most clearly is The Drowned World. I finished it, but it took some effort. Ballard's narrative always flowed so slowly, like a river of molten lead. I never liked his more recent stuff and thought the concept behind Crash was just stupid.
Still, he had an original voice and the world is a poorer place now without him.
